Toon Link's Personality
The fact that Toon Link has great personality is beyond argument. In fact, that's what really sold Toon Link on a lot of Zelda fans, including more than a few in my survey. One even claimed that "[Toon Link] displays more emotions in a few seconds than mature Link does in an entire game." While this may be a bit of an exaggeration, there's certainly no question whether or not Toon Link is capable of expressing himself. Just look below at some of these screenshots.
In Toon Link's games, players are often able to adjust the camera angle to better view Toon Link's various facial expressions. This adds tremendously to these games, and really gives Toon Link strength as a character.
Another thing that really brings Toon Link to life is his vocals. Yes, he only says two words. But two words are a lot more than none, which is all the classic Link has to offer. That simple "Come on!" really breathes life into Toon Link. In the end, it's really the little things that make the biggest difference.
Personal motivation is something found wanting in classic Link's character. While his predecessor may embark on a journey simply because it is his destiny, Toon Link always fights for personal reasons. In The Wind Waker, he sails the seas and outwits pirates to save his little sister Aryll. In Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, he travels the kingdom in order to save his friend Zelda from a terrible fate. Though this may seem insignificant, this adds depth to Toon Link's character and certainly to his personality.
