What Players Think
"It's evident when you pit the adult Link against his cartoony counterpart that Toon Link is the better of the two. Yes, people like the pizzazz of the more mature Link, the dark plots and the gritty fights. Really though, it's Toon Link that has real substance. When that Wind Waker style hit the DS, the fans and the industry welcomed it with open arms. That's what really made Toon Link a solid fixture in the Legend of Zelda family. That's just the beginning for Nintendo. They're going to experiment a lot more with the Legend of Zelda, I promise." - Jason
"[Cel-shade] is not the core Zelda style, for good reason. Serious. They made [Twilight Princess] look real to make the fans happy. I really hated Wind Waker. I love Zelda, but if all they did was cel-shade, I'd be done." - Terry A.
"I love [Phantom Hourglass] and [Wind Waker]. But I know a lot of people who didn't [because] they hated the "childish" look." - Chelsea D.
"I can get into [the game] a lot more with Toon Link. He has more character. He just makes the game more lively overall. You have a heck of a lot more fun with him." - Jbones
"I'm a die hard Zelda fan, and Wind Waker is by far my favorite [Legend of Zelda] game. People who skipped Wind Waker [because] of the style can't call themselves Zelda fans. Toon Link is the best." - Julius B.
"I actually kinda prefer Toon Link. Because he has better facial expressions and more personality." - Robert Barry
"Toon Link wins, hands down! He's so awesome, and he's so much funnier than the sourpuss Link in Twilight Princess. He's so serious, and Toon Link always makes me laugh." - Orin P.
"It's all about Toon Link. I love that little guy. I'd love to see him get a new game on the Wii U, especially if they kept the Wind Waker style. It's so much fun. - Zach Z.
"Toon Link is better. It's a fact." - Nick S.
"Be serious. Toon Link doesn't compare. Mature Link is a hero, a real hero. You can look up to him, you can trust him. You just can't do that with Toon Link. He's just a little kid." - L. Jones
"How do you not fall in love with Wind Waker's style? By far my favorite Zelda game!" - M. B.
"Honestly, I can't stand Toon Link. The cartoony style takes away from the story." - Paul
"I adore the art style of Wind Waker, which is easily in my top 2Zelda titles. It's full of charm and color and I love it! I think fans should be appreciative that Nintendo like to really shake things up from time to time, rather than sticking to one style." - Jamie
"Toon Link. He's just funnier." - Monica
"It's really the details that make [Wind Waker] the best Zelda. You can spin the camera around and see [Toon] Link's face. You have his cute frown when he's picking up heavy objects, that sneaky sneaky look when he's up against a wall. He displays more emotions in a few seconds than mature Link does in an entire game. All mature Link has is that sappy smile and an angry face." - Talon
"The adult Link games are dark and depressing. Toon Link all the way!" - Cooper T.
"I love love love the Wind Waker style. I want more console games with that style. Toon Link is awesome." - Terrace W.
"Ocarina of Time is my all-time favorite game. It's number one. Wind Waker is number two, and it's a close number two. I love Toon Look, all the expressions, all the personality. He's definitely my favorite version of Link." - David R.
"I love all the Toon Link games, especially Wind Waker. It's my favorite Zelda game! I prefer Toon Link." - Lanyard S.
"Despite being cartoony, I really like Toon Link. He feels more real because of his emotions. His expressions made Wind Waker." - Misty D.
"Toon Link is adorable. They did a very good job with him...I would've liked to have seen him as an adult but at the same time I'm glad they kept him as a child only because it would've ruined the feel of it." - Naomi
"I just can't take Toon Link seriously in that kiddy style. I'm not even sure if you're supposed to." - King
"In my opinion, Toon Link looks better than the realistic one." - A. Gregerson
"Personally, I think Nintendo is brilliant for experimenting with [the Legend of Zelda series]. This is an old classic series, and I love that the creators are brave enough to take risks like Toon Link. I hope they continue playing with different designs in the future. In the meantime, however, how about that Majora's Mask remake?" - Mallory
